Sirje Runge
Sirje Runge (1950) is an Estonian painter and designer, regarded as one of the key figures of geometric abstraction and minimalist painting in Estonia. Her work has evolved from early geometry- and architecture-based compositions toward a colour-driven, meditative abstraction in which colour functions as the primary expressive element. A central figure of the Estonian avant-garde of the 1970s, Runge has received numerous prestigious awards and her works are held in major international museum and private collections. Her contribution to contemporary art extends beyond painting to include a distinctive philosophical outlook and influential pedagogical practice.
