Peeter Laurits

Peeter Laurits (1962) is an Estonian artist and photographer whose practice has focused on photography since the late 1980s. He studied at the University of Tartu, Leningrad State University, the Estonian Institute of Humanities, and the International Center of Photography in New York. Since the 1990s, Laurits has been highly active on the international exhibition scene, collaborating with numerous galleries and institutions across Europe and the United States. His work has significantly expanded photographic means of expression and broadened the role of photography within Estonian culture. Laurits is also a founding member of the creative groups Igavesti Sinu, DeStudio, and Kütioru Avatud Ateljee, and his works are held in numerous museum and public collections, including commissioned monumental works for public space.
