Satellite Exhibition at Villa Dombrovka, Karepa: Kristel Schwede, QBA, and Brenda Purtsak – “Earthly Unearthly”

For the third year in a row, Artrovert Gallery’s curated selection of contemporary art brings joy to summer visitors and celebrators at Villa Dombrovka in Karepa, Lääne-Viru County.

Starting from May 25, the villa will host a group exhibition by three artists – Kristel Schwede, QBA (Martin Kaares), and Brenda Purtsak – titled “Earthly Unearthly”, inviting visitors on a journey through cityscapes, seaside moods, and childhood memories. The exhibition is open during the villa’s opening hours.

Summer. Holidays. The beach. The desire to pause time.

Songs, books, films, and social media posts about travel and rest reveal a common urge to escape the everyday. Leisure time, time for oneself, the luxury of doing nothing. Art, too, holds a place in this form of being away from the ordinary. The Karepa area plays a notable role in Estonian art as a setting for the depiction of the sea, beach life, and vacation. A poetic coastline, sun, wind, sea, and a way of life removed from the urban.
