Gerda Hansen opens first solo exhibition at Artrovert Gallery

Starting from August 19, Artrovert Gallery presents Gerda Hansen’s first solo exhibition Revelation, which explores the deceptive credibility of photography and the sentimental allure of memories. The exhibition is curated by Aleksander Metsamärt.

Revelation highlights Hansen’s latest series of works, where the artist balances the coziness of memories with the uncanny sense of the not-quite-real. The resulting photographs contemplate questions of truth, memory, and the almost religious certainty that people project onto images.

Gerda Hansen (b. 1994) received her BA in Painting (2022) and MA in Contemporary Art (2025) from the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her practice bridges the material and the digital, presenting images that appear familiar yet unsettling, prompting viewers to reflect on the boundaries between reality and imagination. Hansen has exhibited in Estonia, Lithuania, and Italy, and in 2023 was awarded the Adamson-Eric Young Artist Scholarship.

The exhibition Revelation is open at Artrovert Gallery from August 19.
