Sirja-Liisa Eelma
Sirja-Liisa Eelma (1973) is an Estonian painter whose work is defined by repetition, symmetrical forms, and subdued colour palettes, with recurring themes of emptiness, silence, and pause. Her paintings are often site-specific, shaped by the interplay of time and spatial context, and convey a strong sense of introspection and meditative calm. Eelma graduated in painting from the Estonian Academy of Arts, where she currently works as a visiting associate professor, and is completing a practice-based doctoral project. Her work has been exhibited at major Estonian museums and galleries and has been recognised with the Konrad Mägi Prize, the Kristjan Raud Art Award, and nominations for the AkzoNobel Art Prize.
