Martin Luts

Martin Luts (b. 1982) work is clearly characterized by a sense of form, geometric composition and a character-centered approach. The works do not depict specific objects, but ways of seeing something. Although they are abstract positions, one can sense a person in them.

His works combine realistic depiction and abstract structure, creating visual portraits that reflect the essence of modern man through space, line and color.

Luts’ paintings are built on geometry – he uses spatial and planar solutions to emphasize the inner state of the figure. The characters are precisely modeled, but placed in compositions where form and balance play a central role. The result is works that are both analytical and poetic. His work combines architectural thinking and psychological depth – highlighting the dialogue between man and his environment.

Luts about his inspiration: “I have been obsessed with geometry for as long as I can remember. As a student, I was captivated by the balance of shapes, the rhythm of patterns, and the way forms could create a sense of order and mystery at the same time.

This fascination deepened during my university years, when I studied engineering and learned to see the world through the lens of structure and precision.

Each shape, when viewed from a different angle, seems to reveal something entirely new – an endless play of perspectives hidden within the same form.”
