Marta Vaarik

Marta Vaarik (1986) is an Estonian interdisciplinary artist working in the fields of painting, video, and performance. Her work focuses on challenging cultural norms and breaking traditional narratives through personal stories and bold gestures.

Vaarik’s artistic practice is characterized by strong social sensitivity—she addresses issues related to minority rights, mental health, and reintegration, working closely with at-risk youth. While her art often deals with difficult and socially charged topics, her works are frequently visually playful and frivolous.

Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries, including group exhibitions at Tallinn Art Hall and Heit Gallery in Berlin, as well as solo exhibitions at Vabaduse, Draakon, and EKA galleries.

Vaarik graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts, earning a bachelor’s degree in painting and a master’s degree in photography. In addition, she has experience as a film director.
