Artist Marija Musja (b. 1989) has said about her creations: “My work resists explanation. If a painting depends on words, it has already failed.”
Instead, she aims to create moments of confrontation – where the viewer is asked to stand still and face something they cannot easily name, but unmistakably recognise.
We are surrounded by endless images, constant reaction, and noise.
Her task as an artist is not to contribute to that flow, but to interrupt it. To create something that cannot be consumed quickly. Something that asks for time. Something that resists.
If, even for a moment, the viewer feels less alone in what they carry –
then her work has done enough.
