Mari Roosvalt

Mari Roosvalt (1945) is an Estonian painter and a distinguished art educator who has been long associated with the Estonian Academy of Arts as a lecturer, professor, and Head of the Open Academy. She has been active in the Estonian art scene since the 1970s, is a member of several artists’ associations, and served as Chair of the Estonian Painters’ Union from 2006 to 2015. Roosvalt’s artistic practice combines an abstract, romantic-modernist painterly language with photo fragments and motifs drawn from travel experiences, particularly in watercolour, where layers of history, memory, and personal perception intertwine. She has held more than 70 solo exhibitions in Estonia and internationally.
