Mari Kurismaa

Mari Kurismaa (1956) is an Estonian interior architect and artist whose education and practice bridge painting and spatial design. She graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute in 1979 with a degree in interior architecture and worked primarily as a painter and painting instructor at the Academy’s Department of Interior Architecture during the 1980s and 1990s. In 1994, she obtained a Master’s degree in art. Since the late 1990s, Kurismaa has returned to interior architecture and has worked as an interior architect at her own studio, Stuudio Kurismaa OÜ, since 2002. She has been a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association since 1987 and the Estonian Association of Interior Architects since 1999, and in 2013 she pursued further studies in historic interiors and collections at the Attingham Trust Summer School in England.
