Kati Müüripeal
The paintings of Kati Müüripeal express her unique visual language, characterised by abstraction, fragmentation, attention to detail and a dialogue of specific colour pairs.
The artist is fascinated by the colour blue and its interpretation in different cultural spaces. The author draws much of his inspiration from the natural surroundings of his birthplace. Ussilakk, Autumn smog, V. Pelevin’s ‘Generation P’ (1999), O.Wilde’s ‘Nightingale and Rose’ (1888) and the time spent in Abisko in northern Sweden as part of the KUNO programme have been major influences on his work.
Kati Müüripeal holds a BA in Liberal Arts and an MA in Contemporary Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts.
