Liis Karu

Liis Karu (b. 1983) graduated from the Tartu Art College Pallas in 2006 with a degree in photography. In addition to taking photos and actively exhibiting, Liis works as a freelance book artist and designer and collaborates with various publishing houses and writers.

She describes her work with the term “photopoetry” – but instead of words and images, light and composition mark some feelings. Through nature and self-portraiture, she explores and interprets both the inner and surrounding world.

In 2023, Liis Karu’s first solo exhibition “I Wave” took place at the Artrovert gallery.
